Dr Vallepur HR Krishnan, Consultant Psychiatrist, Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust passed away late on 27/09/2023.

He spent his entire consultant career in the NHS working in Norfolk, participating in and drving many of the changes in the field of learning disability over the last 30 years or so. Passionately committed to the cause of patient care, he was a diligent and meticulous clinician who had endearingly old-fashioned ability to speak truth to power, however unpalatable that truth was.

A founding member of RADiANT (Research in Developmental Neuropsychiatry), he was a lifelong supporter of making clinical practice, evidence based and till his last day remained committed to the cause of research and further learning. This undoubtedly sustained his passion to work in the NHS, long after his formal 'retirement'. At the time of his unexpected death, he was working as consultant psychiatrist to the North Norfolk community learning disability team.

Dr Krishnan who touched the lives of thousands of patients, their family members and carers over his professional life was for many of us a steadfast friend, reliable colleague and wise advisor. He will be very much missed. May his soul rest in peace.
